This Enfocus PitStop command allows us to check for the existence of bookmarks, which are used to navigate through the structure of a document.
What this command does is to check if there is an entry "Outlines
" in the "Catalog
" dictionary, (allowed since level 1,5 of the PDF format). This entry refers the structure of all the bookmarks that may exist in the document and the relationship between them.
Warning: A document that had bookmarks which have been deleted afterwards, keeps this "Outlines
" entry (with a count of "0
" items), so in such cases PitStop will indicate that bookmarks exist even though there really are no longer any.
In fact, the command does not check for the existence of individual bookmarks, nor does it indicate what they are or where they are. It has no options or parameters.
If such a structure exists, PitStop issues a report and the PDF is marked as chosen in the "Log
" area for further processing.
