This Enfocus PitStop command allows us to check whether the encoding of a document is "ASCII
" or "Binary
". If the document has the chosen encoding, the PDF will be marked as chosen in the "Log
" area for further processing.
In ASCII documents, the code can, in theory, be read and edited manually (provided it is not encrypted and we have enough knowledge and motivation), but they are heavier than binary documents.
Years ago, some data transmission systems (especially mail servers) had problems transmitting non-ASCII code, so at that time it may have been necessary to use ASCII encoding. Today this is not the case and most PDFs are binary.
