This Enfocus PitStop command allows us to check whether a PDF complies in its XMP metadata with the requirements set out in the PDF/A standards. If the selected option is met, the PDF will be marked as chosen in the "Log" area for further processing.
It is possible to choose between two levels of the standard: "PDF/A-1" and "PDF/A-2".
The PDF/A-1 level uses the XMP metadata of the 2004 specification, while the PDF/A-2 level (like PDF/A-3) uses the 2005 specification. In both cases, the PDF/A standards use and require the application of an extra set of XMP metadata (so-called "extension schemas").
