This Enfocus PitStop command allows us to check which version of Acrobat or which version of the PDF format a PDF document is compatible with.
Adobe is the company that created the PDF format and Acrobat is the first program (or set of programs) capable of handling it. For many years, the dates of release of a new version of Acrobat and of a higher level of PDF specifications were somewhat coincident.
In 2008, PDF became an ISO standard. Two versions earlier (Acrobat 7), the relationship between the two releases was no longer so direct (due to this and other reasons).
The versions of Acrobat that can be checked are:
- Acrobat 2.1 (1995) (PDF 1.1)
- Acrobat 3.0 (1996) (PDF 1.2)
- Acrobat 4.0 (1999) (PDF 1.3)
- Acrobat 5.0 (2001) (PDF 1.4)
- Acrobat 6.0 (2003) (PDF 1.5)
- Acrobat 7.0 (2004) (PDF 1.6)
- Acrobat 8.0 (2006) (PDF 1.6)
- Acrobat 8.1 (2007) (PDF 1.6)
- Acrobat 9.0 (2008) (PDF 1.7)
- Acrobat 9.1 (2009) (PDF 1.7)
- Acrobat X (2010) (PDF 1.7)
The PDF versions that can be checked are:
- PDF 1.1 (1994) (Acrobat 2 and 2.1)
- PDF 1.2 (1996) (Acrobat 3)
- PDF 1.3 (2000) (Acrobat 4)
- PDF 1.4 (2001) (Acrobat 5 and Illustrator 9)
- PDF 1.5 (2003) (Acrobat 6)
- PDF 1.6 (2004) (Acrobat 7 and Acrobat 8)
- PDF 1.7 (2006) (Acrobat 9)
- PDF 1.7 (Without Adobe Extensions) (ISO 32000-1:2008)
- PDF 1.7 (Adobe Extension 1)
- PDF 1.7 (Adobe Extension 3) (2008)
- PDF 1.7 (Adobe Extension 5) (2009)
- PDF 1.7 (Adobe Extension 6) (2009)
- PDF 1.7 (Adobe Extension 8) (2011)
- PDF 2.0 (ISO 32000-2:2008) (2017)
If the conditions checked are met, the PDF will be marked as chosen in the "Log
" area for further processing.
