This Enfocus PitStop command allows us to check whether selected objects have a horizontal (X-axis) or vertical (Y-axis) deformation applied. If no object is selected, the check will affect all objects. If the established condition is present (that is, if any object checked is deformed), the PDF will be marked as chosen in the "Log
" area for further processing.
A "deformation" is the difference in scale between the horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) axes of an object, regardless of whether it is rotated, flipped or inverted.
The threshold for the check to detect a problem can be set as a percentage of the reproduction ratio between both axes in the "Scale difference must be less than
" dialog box. Thus, if we chose "5%", the objects that have less than that difference will be considered valid (ie: not deformed).
Warning: This command only detects objects that include some vertical-horizontal ratio parameter that deforms them. For PitStop, objects that were originally altered or stretched in another program (ie: Photoshop) and saved afterwards to be placed in the PDF are not deformed.
It is convenient to leave some leeway in the parameter of allowable deformation, since the calculations of PitStop and the original software may differ a bit; for example, in Adobe InDesign an object can be deformed 10% in the horizontal axis and then PitStop will measure that amount as 11.1%.
