An actions list is a list of enfocus PitStop commands that have been packaged in a special document to be executed sequentially on one or more PDF documents.
What can we do with a list of actions
These are some examples of what can be done with a list of actions:
- Convert a document from RGB or CMYK to a default CMYK.
- Embed all fonts in a document that does not have them embedded.
- Add 3 mm of bleed if the document lacks bleed.
- Replace a document's metadata with metadata that conforms to a company's archiving standards.
- Convert a PDF for two-colour printing.
- Convert a PDF from one CMYK to another without altering the ink composition, but only its values.
Which programs can run them
Action lists can be run manually from the Adobe Acrobat plugin version of PitStop or automatically with the PitStop Server version. In both cases, once the list execution is started, no user intervention is required and one or hundreds of pages and documents can be processed.
Users with sufficient knowledge and experience can create their own action lists or modify existing ones.
An action list is saved in a file (with the extension *.eal
) that can be exported, saved, imported and shared. Among other things, action lists can be protected against changes (this does not imply that they cannot be duplicated and copied though).
